No More Regrets and Claiming My Worth: A Reflection on Nzeba Table’s First Anniversary

No More Regrets and Claiming My Worth: A Reflection on Nzeba Table’s First Anniversary

The biggest mistake in my life was not giving myself credit.

My name is Rosette Toussaint, and I am the founder of Nzeba Table—a Haitian Fusion
brand built on faith, resilience, and the love of food. A year ago, I took a leap of faith and stepped into my calling. But before I could celebrate my journey, I had to face my deepest fear: believing in myself. Today, as I celebrate Nzeba Table’s first anniversary, I share the story of how it all began—how fear almost stopped me and how faith led me forward.

Facing My Fear: The Moment Everything Changed

I now recognize that my efforts, resilience, and accomplishments were not undervalued by others but by me. I have carried burdens, pushed through challenges, and shown up for others time and time again. Yet, I never stopped to give myself the recognition I deserved

For too long, I was a soldier—serving, working, and committing myself to a cause without questioning whether I had the courage to lead. I walked beside others, celebrated their victories, and helped them reach the other side, but I rarely acknowledged my own strength.

The Day I Almost Gave Up

A year ago, in March 2024, I decided to show up with my baked goods at a farm stand. But fear had a grip on me—it paralyzed me in ways I never expected. It took everything in me to say, “I am doing this. No more excuses.”

In the last three days of March, I baked tirelessly. I sent flyers only to my closest friends, hoping for support. But when the day arrived, panic set in. I barely had the courage to drive to the farm stand, and when I did, my first instinct was to apologize to the owner and say I couldn’t do it.

My friend wasn’t there, but her husband, Paul, was the one who greeted me. Instead of
letting me retreat into fear, he simply said, “Let me help you unload and walk you
through.”

It was as if we spoke two different languages. I was trapped in my dream-perfect world, questioning everything, while he was in the world of action.

Then, my first customer arrived and asked, “What do you have?”

I stammered. I hesitated. I was trying to find the words to say, “I don’t think I can do this.”

But in that moment, Paul and the customer were in complete synchronicity—"No" was not an acceptable answer.

That was divine intervention. I could feel it.

I turned back, took a deep breath, and started selling my baked goods.

The rest is history.

Claiming My Worth: What This Anniversary Means to Me

Call it humility, call it ego—perhaps they are co-creators meant to exist in balance.

What I am truly saying is this:

I must acknowledge my own work.
I must celebrate God in my work.
I must recognize that I am worthy.

This is not in vain. He brings light into the shadows, and today, I stand in that light,
grateful, seeing all the strength within me.

May I always remember the moments when success felt out of reach, yet I pressed on— driven by the belief that I had to rise. Not just for myself, but for my family, for my
community, for the mission placed upon my heart.

I have walked through seasons of joy and struggle, solitude and togetherness. Now, I stand at a new threshold—beginning again, but this time, for myself.

A Special Thank You to My Community

Nzeba Table is not just my journey—it is our journey. To every person who has supported, encouraged, and believed in me, I say: thank you. This is only the beginning.

My Prayer: A Call to Faith

At this moment, I close my eyes and pray:

Dear Lord,

I thank You for all that I have and all that awaits me.
I seek internal peace and light in this time of difficulty and challenges.
I know You are here, yet the whispers of doubt try to grow loud, threatening to shake my resolve.
But I refuse to surrender to fear.
Instead, I stand firm in the truth and mission You have placed within me.
I am the captain of my life.
I am the owner of Nzeba Table.
And I will not settle for less than the vision You have entrusted to me.
Amen.
